Why Calibrate Your EC Meter? ๐ฌ
Your EC meter measures how much nutrient is dissolved in your water. Over time, readings can drift, and even small errors can lead to over or under feeding your plants. Regular calibration with a trusted reference solution keeps your readings spot on.
EC is reported in three common units:
- ๐น mS/cm (millisiemens per centimetre)
- ๐น cF (Conductivity Factor)
- ๐น ppm (parts per million)
As a handy guide: 1 mS/cm = 10 cF = 700 ppm. Distilled or deionised water reads near zero, and conductivity rises as nutrient strength increases.

How to Use ๐ง
- Rinse your EC probe with clean water and gently pat dry
- Pour a small amount of HY-GEN 2.76 Conductivity Solution into a clean cup
- Submerge the probe and allow the reading to stabilise
- Adjust your meter to read 2.76 mS/cm as per your meter's instructions
- Rinse the probe again before use
